The Master of Professional Studies in Applied Sciences Leadership delivers the real-world skills needed to advance your career in the government sector, nonprofit agencies, international organizations, corporations, and more.

Whether you are a career starter, career advancer, or career changer, this degree allows you to more fully engage with applied science leadership practices. You’ll further your disciplinary expertise with classes offered by faculty in the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resource Sciences or the School of Public Health.

A Unique Credential

The Applied Sciences Leadership degree consists of two stackable graduate-level certificates and two required courses that serve to synthesize the knowledge gained from each certificate.

In order to earn all three credentials, students must apply to each program.

Curriculum (30 credits)

Applied Science Leadership Coursework (6 cr)

  • ASCL 6001 – Perspectives in Integrated Applied Sciences
  • ASCL 6002 – Applied Sciences Leadership Capstone

Core Certificate: Leadership for Science Professionals (12 cr)

  • ASCL 6312 – Finance for Nonfinancial Managers
  • ASCL 6313 – Data for Decision Making
  • ASCL 6315 – Legal and Ethical Business Issues for Science Professionals
  • ASCL 6314 – Leading Projects and Teams
    or
  • ASCL 6316 – Transformational Leadership in an Intercultural World

Elective Certificate A: Regulatory Affairs for Food Professionals (12 credits)

This certificate can be taken on its own or as part of the master's degree. Courses are offered completely online.

Elective Certificate B: Poultry Health (12 credits)

This certificate can be taken on its own or as part of the master's degree. Courses are offered completely online.

Self-Designed Track (12 credits)

A personalized selection of courses based on your professional goals, in consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies. This may include coursework focused on sustainability, technology, water, among others.
