The Health Services Executive program opens career opportunities to manage and lead organizations in the long-term care industry:
- nursing homes
- residential care
- assisted living
- home and community-based services
The degree provides the knowledge and skills required for licensing as a Health Services Executive. Many states recognize this as the standard for long-term care administrators.
This program has been approved by the Minnesota Board of Executives for Long Term Services and Supports. This allows graduates to be eligible to become licensed as a Health Services Executive.
All admission materials must be submitted to the Office of Admissions no later than 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time on the deadlines noted.

Internship
As part of the online coursework, students will be required to complete a 1,000-hour internship that consists of experiential learning and aspects of regulatory and leadership education. The internship will occur in the areas of skilled nursing homes, residential care and assisted living facilities, and home and community based services, all of which provide long-term care services and supports. A faculty member must approve the internship site and the necessary paperwork must be completed prior to commencing the internship.
Career Outlook
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the outlook for medical and health services managers, including long-term care administrators, continues to be very strong.
The occupation is expected to grow by approximately 32% by the year 2030 with an annual median pay in 2020 of $104,280.

Students enrolled in 0.5 or more credits at UMC pay a $250 UMC Campus Fee each semester. The Crookston Campus Fee helps to fund technological infrastructure and student academic support including advisors, tutoring, library, career counseling, and accessibility.
