Seminar in Nursing Informatics
Recognizing the growing impact of information technology on the delivery of care, professional nursing organizations have established standards for nursing informatics to assist faculty integrate them into program curriculums. These standards include The AACN Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice, Information Managing and Application of Patient Care Technology, The TIGER Informatics Competencies for Every Practicing Nurse and The QSEN Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes for Informatics.
The Seminar in Nursing Informatics online aims to align these standards with a recommended curriculum and suggested methods, tools, and learning resources to teach them. The subjects discussed in this course include knowledge complexity, informatics literacy, nursing knowledge work, data standards and standardized languages, clinical decision support, and future trends.
