The international business major will enable you to develop the kind of global mindset necessary for opportunities in this field. The curriculum introduces you to the global marketplace by offering courses in cultures and etiquette, business law, financial management, marketing, and business management and strategy. Your studies can be combined with field experience, studying abroad, or a foreign language requirement to broaden your understanding of international business.

Career Opportunities

Positions in international business focus primarily on working with foreign nationals employed in the United States or US workers in foreign countries. Opportunities are also available to individuals who can advise on protocol used for international business negotiations.

As a graduate you might find a career in supply chain or operations management, human resources, sales and marketing, financial management, consulting, or as an entrepreneur. You may also work at federal agencies like the International Trade Administration and the Foreign Service as part of the US Department of Commerce, or serve as cultural advisors to businesses or organizations.

Students enrolled in 0.5 or more credits at UMC pay a $250 UMC Campus Fee each semester. The Crookston Campus Fee helps to fund technological infrastructure and student academic support including advisors, tutoring, library, career counseling, and accessibility.
