Pharmacotherapy focuses on the treatment of medical conditions with drug therapy. Knowledge of medications and disease states benefits patients, the healthcare system and the broader population. This minor explores a variety of intersecting concepts such as health literacy, population health, pharmacoeconomics and medication safety. This minor can provide students with an understanding of medication use in the healthcare system and empower them to be engaged citizens and patients.

It may be a helpful minor if you are planning to go into pharmacy, medicine, veterinary, physician's assistant, nursing, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy or social work programs. It may also be useful if you are pursuing a career in fields in which some drug and healthcare knowledge is preferable. These could include biotechnology, health insurance, medical writing, healthcare marketing, pharmaceutical marketing and healthcare management.

Pharmacotherapy and Health Systems Minor is currently available to students on the Twin Cities and Rochester campuses.
